Wednesday 28 June, 9am-4.45pm at The Moot Suite (Heart of the Campus, HC.0.03)
This year’s SHU SPG workshop day is themed around “The Politics of Place”. Drawing across an array of disciplinary traditions and perspectives, our presenters will invite participants to explore the ways in which (subtly and explicitly) politics permeates place, and place frames politics. Our event will take an expansive definition of “the political”, but with a particular interest in the political character of seemingly prosaic, everyday spaces.
Our events are informal and proudly interdisciplinary. The SHU SPG was set up in 2012 to enable cross-disciplinary conversations and collaborations around place-making and space-using practices. Current group membership ranges across the arts & humanities, education, built environment and the social sciences but we are always keen to welcome new perspectives. SHU SPG events are open to all, whether SHU staff or beyond our institution.
Places for this event are limited, and you must register in advance. Further details, including the schedule for the day, are available via the booking link.
