Job title: Widening Participation and Outreach Coordinator (Vulnerable Groups)
Salary:
£21,843 to £25,298 dependent on experience

The Widening Participation and Outreach team at Sheffield Hallam University deliver a range of school, college and community based activity to support and encourage progression into higher education. We focus particularly on supporting those from groups under-represented at our university and in higher education more widely, including students from vulnerable groups such as care leavers, young carers and estranged students.

Using your experience in supporting the progression of young people and/or adults in education and any experience of promoting diversity, you will take a lead on our outreach targeted at those who can benefit from more intensive support to progress to higher education. This includes care-experienced young people and adults, young carers and those estranged from their families. The role will include delivering our Compact Scheme, our targeted summer school, support for teachers and advisors and higher education preparation events. You will develop and manage local authority and charity relationships, and collaborate both internally and externally to maintain and develop outreach activity.

The role offers the chance for a committed and creative person to help shape the work we do with students from non-traditional backgrounds and to play a role in inspiring and supporting these students. You will possess strong project management skills and will be working alongside colleagues and student ambassadors to deliver a range of activities and resources. Excellent communication skills and experience of working collaboratively will be essential to succeeding in the role.
