Make the most of your bike this spring by choosing to cycle to University. As part of the Commute for Change campaign, the University is holding several cycling events to encourage you to get pedalling.
Bike doctor sessions in April
Bike service and repair company Bike Rehab will be coming to both University campuses this April offering a free drop in Bike Doctor service. They will be available at:
- 7 April, 8am – 2pm: Hallam Square
- 27 April, 8am – 2pm: Collegiate Crescent (open space near Heart of the Campus)
Bike Rehab maintenance sessions in May
Continuing into May, Bike Rehab will also be delivering ‘The Essentials Demonstration’ – perfect for first timers or seasoned cyclists alike. During this session they will share expert tips and techniques covering safety check overs and diagnosis, removing wheels, disconnecting and attaching brakes, puncture repair, torque, cleaning and lubrication, chain wear and care tips. After the session, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and get a free bike check and / or minor repair on their bikes:
- 4 May, 12pm – 1pm – City Campus – Charles Street (12.3.17)
- 25 May, 12pm – 1pm – Collegiate Campus – Heart of the Campus (HOTC.0.14)
Cycle to Work Scheme
If you’re interested in getting a bike, the University offers the Cycle to Work Scheme. This is a government initiative where you can purchase a new bike and equipment tax-free.
