Sheffield’s festival celebrating world-class research in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) is back.

Our diverse programme will fascinate, entertain and engage children, young people and adults alike – with events, talks and activities for all. Events take place all over the city in university labs, lecture theatres, museums, pubs, the Winter Garden and even the Moor Market.

Bitesize X-Lectures – by Speakers from the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University

Thursday 9 March, 7 – 9pm at Sheffield Tap, 1b, Sheffield Station

Audience: Age 18+

Come along to an adults-only evening in the Sheffield Tap and hear from four leading academics over a pint. The evening will be compered by Professor Tony Ryan and there will be bite-sized talks from:

  • Professor Allan Pacey talking about how doctors help preserve the fertility of young people diagnosed with cancer
  • Dr Andrew Chappell on doping in sport
  • Dr Simona Francese talking about detecting drug abuse from fingerprints
  • Dr Rhonda Snook discussing the birds and the bees – but flies are more interesting
