Half-day Symposium on Inclusive Practice
Wednesday 18 January, 9.30 – 12.30 at The Council Chamber, Sheffield Town Hall
This half day symposium is an opportunity for all university staff to learn about the recent significant sector developments in inclusive practice policy and guidance. It is a chance to reflect on Sheffield Hallam University’s policies and practice and consider what we can do to enhance important aspects of our provision – transitions, attainment, engagement and employability – through extending our own individual inclusive approaches to teaching and assessment.
Guest speakers include:
- Professor Geoff Layer (Chair of the DfE Sector Leadership Group on Inclusion)
- Professor Chris Husbands (Vice-Chancellor, Sheffield Hallam University)
- James Elliot (NUS Disabled Students Officer)
- Dr Graham Holden (Director of Learning and Teaching, Sheffield Hallam University)
Staff interested in attending the event can view a full description and the draft programme.
Places are still available but filling up fast – book online now!
Please note: The symposium presentations will be filmed and made available to all staff after the event.
Moving forward: Inclusive Practice Enhancement Projects – Themed project workshops 26 and 27 January
The symposium will be followed up with a series of 4 themed workshops for individuals or small teams who wish to make a change – big or small – to their practice to enhance inclusivity in any one of the following key areas:
1. Curriculum and Assessment Design
2. Placements and work based learning
3. Induction and Transitions (including from-school, mature and international students)
4. Classroom teaching (large and small groups)
In their chosen workshop, each participant will develop their own project with guidance from experienced colleagues and will be supported in implementing their developmental ideas after the event via a network of peers. Booking details are available on the LEAD blog.
