International Women’s Day 2017

Wednesday 8 March marks International Women’s Day (IWD). Observed since 1909, it is a global celebration of respect, appreciation and recognition of women, while continuing to call for greater equality.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2017 is ‘Be Bold for Change’ and, throughout March, we are looking to publish profiles of women who have made a difference to their local community.  We are looking for people to nominate staff, students and other inspirational local women and we will create profiles which will be visible on Twitter, LinkedIn, the staff intranet and the TV screens around the campus.

To make a nomination please forward your nominee’s full name, contact details and briefly why you feel they should be featured to: InternationalWomensDay@shu.ac.uk by: 27 January 2017

Joint Event – Hold the Date!

Sheffield Hallam takes an active part in celebrating and recognising IWD; examples of events and activities that took place last year can be found here.

In response to the positive feedback we received, for the third year we will be holding a joint event with The University of Sheffield. Our guest speakers will be Professor Christina Hughes – PVC for Student Experience, and Natalie Bennett – Leader of the Green Party for England and Wales (2012-2016). There will also be a variety of career and personal development workshops to attend.

This event is open to all staff however places are limited and attendance cannot be guaranteed. A full agenda will be published and communicated shortly.  If you are interested in attending please place a HOLD THE DATE in your calendars for 8 March, 10.30am – 5pm and register your interest by sending ‘I would like to attend’ to: IWDEventEOI@shu.ac.uk
