To enable electrical works to be completed as part of the STEM development, there will be a full power shutdown in both EMB and Sheaf buildings from 6pm on Friday 16 December. Power will be restored no later than the evening of Sunday 18 December and both buildings reopened as usual on Monday morning, 19 December.
There will also be a full power shutdown in Norfolk on Saturday 17 December to enable essential maintenance works to take place. The building will be closed on this day. This will also affect the Hallam Active gym.
There will be no access for staff or students to these buildings during their shutdown periods. Networked IT services including desktop PCs, networked printers and any Unified Comms telephones will also be affected. Staff and students should ensure that all work is saved and PCs are properly shut down on Friday 16 December, otherwise there is a risk that work will be lost. Colleagues should also ensure that any fridges in staff areas are emptied on Friday 16 December, as any food or drink left in them will be spoiled.
The estates team has worked closely with the contractors and faculty and directorate colleagues to ensure these essential shutdowns are managed in a controlled way, but we apologise for any inconvenience this causes to colleagues or other building users.
Staff or students experiencing any issues on Monday 19 December should contact the helpdesk on ext 4444.
