As part of the planned asbestos abatement work being undertaken in Owen and Norfolk, contractors began quill blasting in the level 2 plant room on Tuesday 4 October. In order to complete this as quickly as possible, work is being carried out during normal working hours and will last for approximately three weeks.
This necessary work will cause some unavoidable noise disruption within Owen and adjoining areas. This is being closely monitored from Tuesday morning for impact on teaching or staff, and actions taken to minimise disturbance where possible. This work is being carried out according to the University’s robust Asbestos Management Plan and poses no risk to anyone using the building. Apologies in advance for any inconvenience this work will cause.
Heating is expected to be available within Owen by 10 October. We are continuing to work on the issue with hot water supplies in both Owen and Norfolk and hope to have this restored as soon as we can.
