The ‘Hallam Help Points’ project

During the September and early October induction period, the Student Help Team will be running the Hallam Help Points project (formally Advice and Information Points).

The project will see Student Ambassadors working across the University ready to help with any queries that students may have as well as promoting the Student Support Services that the University offers. They will be helping new and returning students find their way during these first few weeks of the new academic year, not only in navigating the campuses, but also in finding their place in university life. Last year the ambassadors answered nearly 7000 queries in total, helping to take pressure off helpdesk and faculty staff during the busiest time of the year.

The Ambassadors will be moving around campus to respond to the needs of the students who are there and where help is needed most. If you or your team are facilitating an event during induction week and you see an Ambassador nearby, please take the time to talk to them about the event so that they can pass this information on to students and direct them to the right place. They will be easily identifiable wearing grey t-shirts with the new Hallam Help branding and will be carrying our distinctive ‘Need Help? Ask Me’ lollipop sticks! This year we have recruited 22 ambassadors who will be working in shifts to roam and staff stands, cover welcome events and provide support at the Student Support Services Reception areas.

As well as the Ambassadors there will also be a number of banner stands and information points at various locations across the university to provide information about the Student Support Services.
