Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or a potential pedaller, this September the University is offering staff a host of events to help you take to the saddle.
Cycle Boost allows you to borrow a bike for a month to see if cycling is for you, and is coming to the University on 6 and 7 September. Look at and book one of four different types of bike on offer, which you can pick up later in September and try for a month; if it’s for you, then you can buy your bike at a heavily discounted price. If not, just return it.
In addition to the loan bike scheme, Cycle Boost is also offering road confidence training, Dr Bike maintenance courses and advice and support from the CycleBoost team for free.
Cycle to work day is on Wednesday 14 September. Leave the car at home and join in this national event to promote cycle travel.
All those who cycle into work will be able to receive a free cooked breakfast on us via your SHU card. We’ll be at City and Collegiate campuses to welcome all those on two wheels and a bike doctor service will also be in Hallam Square between 8am-2pm. Find out more about Cycle to Work.
And don’t forget – If you’re keen to get a new bike, the University offers a scheme through the reward and benefits team known as the Cycle to work scheme.
These events are just the first steps in an ongoing travel campaign being planned for this year that will give staff help and support to travel more sustainably.
