Student Funding and Access Support at Sheffield Hallam

‘Student Transition and Progression’ (one of the new teams in Student Support Services formed in the L3S restructure) is changing its name to Student Funding and Access Support.

This decision has been made in order to better reflect the nature of the support the team provides, which includes

  • ‘Drop-ins’ and appointments for funding and finance advice
  • Support for students in financial hardship, including emergency food vouchers and the Student Support Fund
  • Bursary and scholarship administration
  • Support for mature students, care leavers, estranged students and carers, including one to one advice and email newsletters
  • The Mature Student Welcome Programme
  • Peer support initiatives, such as Carer’s Café events and a pilot Mature Student Buddying Scheme
  • Open Day stands and presentations
  • Awareness raising events and staff training

All staff- and student-facing channels will gradually be updated with the new team name.

Students can continue to access the service via the Student Services Centres on Owen Level 5 and at Heart of the Campus and the team can also be contacted on 0114 225 2184 or via email to transitions@shu.ac.uk
