SHU is sponsoring Pride Sheffield and Pinknic – can you help?

Sheffield Hallam will have stalls at both Pinknic and Pride Sheffield this year, two popular local Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT+) events. Members of the LGBT+ staff network SIGNAL, the Equality and Diversity team and the Recruitment team will be present to support the two days, and we’re looking for some volunteers from our staff population to join them on the day.

Are you passionate about achieving an inclusive and diverse society and would like to show your support?

Pinknic – Saturday 16  July, 11am-7pm at the Peace Gardens
Sheffield’s biggest free LGBT+ event with entertainment, music, food, stalls and family activities throughout the day.

Pride Sheffield – Saturday 30  July, 12pm-7pm at Endcliffe Park
Pride Sheffield is an annual free festival bringing together the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Non-binary community and their friends, families and allies.

How you can help

You do not have to identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans to take part. Straight allies are welcome, and indeed encouraged, to attend or volunteer at the events.

We are looking for people to help:

  • support staff at the stall [Pinknic and Pride Sheffield]
  • volunteer as a steward [Pinknic and Pride Sheffield]
  • take part in the march [Pride Sheffield]

If you are interested and available to help with any of the above please contact Tom Reaney on lgbt@shu.ac.uk or on extension 2788.
