Catalyst: Festival of Creativity

Sheffield Hallam has launched the Catalyst: Festival of Creativity – a series of events, performances, projects and exhibitions in partnership with the city and its communities.  The festival, which is part of Sheffield’s Year of Making, is taking place from April until November with 28 different creative projects over the next eight months.

More than 100 proposals were submitted from University staff and students and a final selection of 28 projects has been made from across a range of different disciplines including architecture, photography, art, performance and design.  These include: Walking at the Speed of Light, the largest model of the Solar System ever constructed, drawing upon the practices of walking arts, science and digital production; Please Touch, a multi-discipline project exploring the creation of interactive displays for the blind and partially-sighted community; Make Good Livelihoods – a public weekend of activities, demonstrations and talks to celebrate the people who make their livelihood from craftsmanship in Sheffield; and Post Office Faces – the stories of former employees of the Head Post Office on Fitzalan Square.
