Café Scientifique is a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology. Meetings take place in cafés, bars, restaurants and even theatres, but always outside a traditional academic context.

Gait analysis is concerned with how we walk and run. Measuring gait can both help with health problems and enhance athletic performance.
The Centre for Sports Engineering Research at Sheffield Hallam University has recently developed several low cost systems for analysing gait. This talk is about the goals of gait analysis and a review of associated technologies that can be used both in and out of the lab.
