Collaborative Course Leader (role title and definition)

Change effective from:

September 2015

Summary of change

A revised role definition and title for Collaborative Course Leader (CCL) was approved by the Academic Quality,  Standards and Enhancement Committee in September 2015.  This role (previously known as the ‘Collaborative Link Tutor’ role) is now being implemented across all faculties.  A designated Collaborative Course Leader is assigned for any collaborative provision delivered in partnership between the University and an approved collaborative partner organisation (i.e. an external education provider).

What’s different?

  • The revised CCL role description provides a set of principles for managing the quality and standards of collaborative provision at an operational level
  • Previously, the ‘Collaborative Link Tutor’ role was primarily focussed on quality control and monitoring objectives. The revised CCL role builds on this vital area of quality and standards but provides more scope to work with partner organisations in developing the best student experience for SHU collaborative students
  • The Collaborative Course Leader will work closely with the course delivery team at a partner organisation to identify and advise on opportunities for academic development of the course/s, in line with the strategic priorities of the wider Department, Faculty and University
