Parent Ambassador scheme – staff wanted

The Outreach team is looking for staff members who have supported children through Higher Education to participate in our new Parent Ambassador scheme. Providing advice and guidance to concerned parents and prospective students is a crucial part of the work we do, and plays a huge role in raising the aspirations of young people and the confidence of their parents.

As someone who has experienced this process first-hand, and works in the University, you will have unique experiences which can help to raise the profile of SHU, but also promote Higher Education as an achievable and rewarding experience to underrepresented groups. Part of this work may involve communicating basic information relating to fees and financial support, and the UCAS application system, and training on this will be provided.

As part of this role you will support a variety of schools and colleges work, parents’ evenings, and Open Days. Work is available on a flexible basis to fit around work responsibilities and other commitments, and all work will be paid. The deadline for applications is 3 April 2016. For more information on the job, please consult the job description, visit our Job of the Week, or contact Jack Aizlewood on ext. 5205, or via j.aizlewood@shu.ac.uk.
