Yesterday (8 March) marked International Women’s Day (IWD). Each year Hallam takes an active part in celebrating and recognising IWD by holding a number of activities and events to recognise and encourage action that supports and contributes towards gender parity. This includes photo exhibitions at Owen and Cantor, student-focused career talks, seminars, various workshops and articles on women in science – ‘hidden from history’.
To find out more, here’s a calendar of past and forthcoming events.
We also invited our colleagues, staff and students to nominate SHU women who had inspired them – or others. 33 SHU staff and 21 students were nominated. You can see their stories here.
And finally, did you know that…
Sheffield Hallam received lifetime collections from two women scholars working in gender equality in 2012 that are now largely located and catalogued in the SHU Library for scholars and students to draw on?
