Christmas time phishing scams and malware campaigns

Phishing scams and malware campaigns often take advantage of the Christmas holidays and shopping season.  If you’re new to making online purchases, use safe online shopping habits, be cautious when receiving unsolicited email messages and do not click on links or download files unless you are sure they are genuine.

Phishing scams and malware campaigns may include the following:

  • electronic greeting cards
  • requests for charitable contributions
  • screensavers or other forms of media
  • credit card applications and online shopping advertisements
