Automatic screen locking

As part of the University’s ongoing campaign to improve security and protect access to its IT systems and data, we are introducing automatic screen locking on idle workstations. Soon, if a University office PC has not been used for 10 minutes, the screen will automatically lock and you will need your password to unlock it. This does not apply to meeting rooms, lecture theatres and PC labs (to ensure teaching is not disrupted) so, in these rooms, it is particularly important that you remember to log out when you leave the room.

Staff are still responsible for locking their own workstations whenever they move away from their desks (to protect their accounts, safeguard University information and comply with the IT regulations). So remember: lock it before you leave it- every time.
