Voter registration has changed

The Government has changed the way we register to vote from registering as a household to individual voter registration. If you don’t register under the new system your name will be removed on 1 December.

Not only will registration ensure your right to vote but the voter numbers will be used in the development of new parliamentary constituency boundaries.

  • Check if you are on the register by calling Sheffield Elections Office 0114 2734093
  • If you’re not on the register you can register to vote online  – it takes 5 minutes – and you’ll need your National Insurance number if you have one (if you are a student you can register at both your home address and your Sheffield address).
  • Once you’re sorted, then get friends, family and house sharers to check as well.
  • You can also download and print the register to vote form if you want to fill in a paper copy. Completed forms need to be posted to Elections Office, Sheffield City Council, Town Hall, Surrey Street, Sheffield S1 2HY or handed in at the Town Hall main reception.
