From the 19 October the new online Request to Repeat an Assessment Attempt (RRAA) process will replace the extenuating circumstances form (formerly EC1 form). This new process has been developed in conjunction with the changes to the Extenuation Policy 2015/16, which took effect at the start of the academic year.
The Request to Repeat an Assessment Attempt (RRAA) will operate in the same way as the EC1 form, but students will make all requests online and these will link directly into their SITS record. Students will also provide their evidence electronically, in the form of documents or pictures, and will receive the university panel decision through their online SHU account. Students will also be able to track the progress of their request and see a history of all of their requests.
For staff, this process will bring all student requests into one place, allowing information to be shared across all student support services. By storing this information in SITS, the university can strengthen its services offered to students. Students will continue to be encouraged to seek advice and support from their Faculty Student Services and academic tutors for any difficult circumstances which are affecting their studies.
To help with directing students to the right support services, look out for the postcards/posters available around the Student Services Helpdesk areas, or visit : https://students.shu.ac.uk/regulations/illness/index.html
