We are approaching the final phase of the Charles Street project. Installation of the Corin Mellor-designed bridge, which will link the new Charles Street building with the Arundel building, begins this weekend.
In order for the bridge to be installed, some road closures are needed:
- Eyre Lane will be completely closed between its junction with Charles Street to the junction with Clay Lane from midday on Friday 25 September until 6am on Monday 28 September.
- Eyre Lane will partly re-open at 6am on Monday 28 September between Brown Lane and Clay Lane.
- From Monday 28 September, the section of Eyre Lane between Charles Street and Brown Lane will be completely closed for four weeks. This will allow Balfour Beatty, the contractors on the Charles Street project, to complete cladding and other essential works to the bridge. Pedestrian traffic will be diverted down Brown Lane during this period.
Balfour Beatty have liaised with Sheffield City Council regarding the timing of this activity.
