Inaugural Professorial Lecture – Professor Daniela Petrelli
Tuesday 30 June, 6pm in the Peak Theatre, Owen Building
Digital technology is with us every day. Its design is familiar but distinctive – we always recognise a TV set or a mobile phone for what it is and what it can do – and specific aesthetics have developed around digital devices, making them objects of identity, status and desire. However, what defines digital technology is not only how it looks but its functionality.
This lecture will consider the properties of digital technology as material for design and how interaction design can open up possibilities for a new generation of make-it-yourself enthusiasts.
Places are free and include refreshments but must be booked in advance.
