WANTED – Digital Cameras for a tourism and poverty project

Digital Cameras required for a project on how tourism can contribute to poverty reduction in less economically developed countries.

The project will involve female craft producers in Zanzibar recording their lives and what tourism means for them on camera – so that these pictures and stories can be made more publicly available, in particular to tourists travelling to developing countries – i.e. ‘turning the lens’ on tourists/tourism.

This material will then be used for a virtual exhibition during the ESRC Festival of Science week in November and to create a web-based exhibition.

A minimum of five simple digital cameras for the women to use and keep are needed for this project.  If you are able to donate an old camera that you do not use anymore please contact Dr Dorothea Meyer on ext 2906 or email d.meyer@shu.ac.uk before Wednesday 27 May.
