IS&T is working with faculties on the IT teaching requirements for 2015/16. Subject group leaders have been asked to gather final information about software requests from their teaching staff and submit it to IS&T before 30 April.
It’s important that this deadline is met so there is time to procure, prepare, test, package and deploy everything in time for the start of year.
These requests should not have any additional costs as the business planning process is closed but should be for existing software, free software or software already included in the budget for next year.
What information does IS&T need?
- For new hardware or software requested in the recent budgeting process – IS&T will need to know which rooms this should be available.
- For upgrades or changes to existing software that was not covered in budgeting – IS&T will need to know which versions are required and any changes to the rooms it is installed in
- For any new free software – IS&T will need to know what is needed and the rooms where it should be installed.
A list of current software and the rooms where it’s installed is available. Those requesting software will need to test it before it is deployed to make sure it behaves in the way they expect. They will be given details about what types of checks are necessary.
If you have any questions at this stage please contact John Helm in IS&T. For more information about the software request process, see these FAQs.
