On 16 December 2014 the Academic Board approved a new process to create a route for progression to Reader which is aligned to that for Professor.
The University is inviting members of academic staff to apply for Readerships. Candidates have to meet stringent criteria and applications are also subject to external assessment. The deadline for applications is Friday 27 March 2015.
Academic progression to Reader is a two stage process. The first stage is consideration by a Faculty Academic Progression Committee who will decide which applications should be shortlisted for consideration by the Professoriate Committee.
The role of Reader is awarded by the Professoriate Committee acting under delegated authority from the Academic Board.
Research evidence will be significant and demonstrate a substantial record over time which has been peer reviewed. All candidates will demonstrate academic leadership internally and externally. Potential applicants should have a discussion with a member of their Faculty Executive before submitting an application.
