Culture Connect – Learning through sharing

This cross-cultural peer mentoring scheme helps new students settle into university life and meet friends from around the world. There are currently 130 members from 32 countries and growing!

Why all students should become a mentee or mentor This is a great opportunity for them to

  • get to know someone through a one-to-one supportive mentoring relationship
  • develop their cultural awareness and learn about different traditions
  • attend social activities and regular soft skills training with other members
  • prepare for work in diverse organisations and add to their CV
  • gain eligibility for the Hallam Award which is recognised by employers

Additional support
Students will also be allocated to a learning set – a small, intimate group of mentees or mentors of different nationalities which enables them to gain a wide range of perspectives. They can discuss challenges and share helpful advice during their time on the scheme.

Please encourage your students (UK and international) to join today visit the Culture Connect Facebook page for details of how to apply or contact the Scheme Coordinator Samantha Jane Logan at CultureConnect@shu.ac.uk
