All staff are invited to Care Leavers at SHU: an awareness-raising session on Wednesday 19 November at 2 – 3.30pm in Owen room 1028.
This session has been co-ordinated by staff in Student Services in collaboration with Outreach and UK Recruitment Development.
There will be a series of short talks focussing on the experiences and challenges of students who are care leavers (i.e. who have grown up in the care of the Local Authority). It will explore the additional barriers these students face and explain what support is available for them at SHU.
This session will be useful to staff across the university who interact with and support students and also for those who have an interest in this area.
