The Big Stew is a free food event on Wednesday 5 November. A huge stew will be made using food which would otherwise have gone to waste.
The stew is courtesy of the Sheffield on a Plate project, using food sourced by Fareshare Yorkshire a charity which works with supermarkets to ensure food goes to vulnerable people in our community. This event will highlight the issues of food waste and food poverty, so it will be a thought-provoking free lunch.
There are 3 Big Stew locations:
- University of Sheffield & Sheffield Students’ Union will be serving from 11.30-2pm at the Students’ Union Plaza,
- Sheffield City College & the College Students’ Union will be serving from 12-1.30pm at the City College Grab & Go outlet,
- Hallam University & Hallam Union will be serving from 4-7.30pm at Hallam Square/Owen building entrance
Volunteer Opportunities:
We need lots of volunteers to help the event to run smoothly. Information on all the opportunities available can be found here: Big Stew Volunteering Opportunities
