Although it may seem a minor issue under normal circumstances, an awkward object like a bike can become a serious obstacle when people are trying to escape in an emergency, and making exceptions leads to copycat actions and ‘They can, why can’t I?’ type disputes.
The University is well supplied with cycle parking spaces. Please use these and use a good quality D-lock or chain to secure your bike.
If you are unhappy about security for your bike, please raise this issue via FD. The issue of secure bike parking for SHU staff is being looked at by FD Estates.
