The Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education is a course designed for new lecturers and those who wish to engage with issues in learning, teaching and assessment in Higher Education at masters level.
Joining the course will enable you to:
- use a theoretical underpinning to inform and develop your teaching
- work with colleagues from across the university to promote good practice
- meet the professional standards designed and led by the sector and known as the UK Professional Standards Framework
- gain membership of the Higher Educational Academy (this is automatically awarded on the successful completion of the course)
The course runs over two semesters and there are two intakes a year – on Wednesday afternoons from September and on Friday afternoons from January. Before each run there is a two day study block. There are two modules, each carrying 30 credits at level 7 and students usually complete one module in one semester. SHU staff are generally fully funded – ask your line manager about this.
