Meningococcal and other communicable diseases

As we start another academic year, staff are reminded that the University’s action plan for dealing with meningococcal disease (i.e. meningitis and/or septicaemia) and other communicable diseases (such as measles, mumps and rubella) is available on the University Secretariat’s webpages at https://staff.shu.ac.uk/university_secretariat/meningitis.asp.

The action plan includes a form for recording reports of possible cases of meningococcal disease. When receiving a report of a possible case it is important that the Health Protection Unit has as much information as possible to determine whether the ill person has meningococcal disease.

For more information about the plan please contact Rachel Bentley in the University Secretariat on ext 5288 or R.Bentley@shu.ac.uk
