As part of our commitment to equal opportunities, the University will be hosting an LGBT awareness day on Wednesday 6 August from 10am on the first floor of the Careers & Employability Centre.
The event will include entertainment, academic talks and staff and students’ personal experiences of being LGBT in the workplace.
We hope as many of us as possible can go along and show our support for this very worthwhile event.
The programme is as follows:
10 – 10.15am – Trish Elwis from the Diversity & Equality team will be introducing the event and talking about SHU’s progress on LGBT issues & future direction
10.15 – 10.45am – KEYNOTE Dr Sonja Ellis from the Dept. of Psychology on diversity & inclusivity in HE: the experiences of LGBT students in the UK
10.45 – 11.05am – Sheena Amos Youth Trust performance
11.05 – 11.25am – Mark Scott, mature student on the MBA, on his experiences of being out in the workplace and his research on LGBT mentoring
11.25 – 11.45am – Linda Wilson from Careers & Employability talking about the LGBT mentoring scheme
