Breastfeeding Friendly Campaign launching this week

The University is committed to developing an inclusive culture for all and aims to provide students, staff and visitors with a supportive and inclusive environment, so that everyone can achieve their full potential.

Becoming a Breastfeeding Friendly institution is part of this and also supports our Wellness policy through its numerous health benefits for both mothers and babies, and many of our courses attract students with families.

Our role within the city meaning we’re happy to lead the way in Sheffield as part of this initiative to encourage mothers to choose to breastfeed wherever they feel comfortable.

We need you!
You are vital to rolling out this policy as our staff are most likely to come across mothers who may want to breastfeed. We need your help to truly be Breastfeeding Friendly, you can support this by:

  • Being supportive and open minded – women are free to feed anywhere except for restricted access areas
  • Familiarising yourself with locations of rooms for feeding (these should be used if women specifically ask for somewhere private to feed)
  • Putting students and visitors first to add value to their experience
