Before Christmas there were some significant issues with the wifi service which prevented some students and staff from accessing the University’s wireless network. This issue was fixed and following a thorough review, there are currently no network problems causing connection failures for users.
Some recent reports of connection failures on the wireless network have been found to be problems with the devices rather than the network.
If you are still having problems connecting to wifi, please check your username and password for the network – and remember to update it every time you change your password. If you are not sure of the correct network settings for your device, please contact IThelp on x3333 or visit a Learning Centre Helpdesk.
If you use an Apple device such as an iPad, iPod or iPhone and are having problems connecting you may be affected by a current issue with these devices on large wifi networks. If this is the case retrying the connection may work. You could also use the eduroam wireless network (another way of connecting across the University) as an alternative.
