Associate Lecturers: application and conversion process

As part of the process agreed between University management and UCU, Associate Lecturers carrying out substantial amounts of work for the University are being invited to apply to convert to a fractional or full academic contract.

In order to be eligible, you must have completed over 100 hour’s work per year for the preceding three academic years i.e. 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13. If you are eligible, you will be sent an email advising you to meet with your line manager, or subject group leader, in order to discuss submitting an application.

In order to convert, there is a requirement for a continuing business need for your skills and experience within the Faculty. As such, we recommend you have a meeting ahead of submitting an application, in order to determine whether an opportunity exists.

If you do not receive an email by 28 January, but think that you might meet the criteria, please contact Alison Ward on ext: 5541 or via email: Alison.Ward@shu.ac.uk.

The deadline for applications is 10am on Monday 10 February 2014.  Conversion Panels will meet to look at the applications received for conversion in April 2014.

If you require any further information please contact Alison Ward in Human Resources Directorate or speak to a UCU representative. There is also information available on the staff intranet which explains the process for Conversion https://staff.shu.ac.uk/hr/A-Z/associatelecturers/ALconoverview.asp .
