The University has now appointed Balfour Beatty as the main contractor for the new building on Charles Street. Work on the site, which is situated on the corner of Charles Street and Arundel Gate and includes Brown Lane, will begin in the next few weeks. This will involve the closure of the car park currently on the site and we wanted to warn any staff who may currently use this facility to expect it to shut some time later this month.
As part of these works, Charles Street, from Eyre Lane to Arundel Gate will be closed to traffic and parking as will part of the Science Park car park so Contractors can use the area for site cabins. Dates of these closures will be communicated soon.
The building will provide a home for the Sheffield Institute of Education as well as a large amount of pool teaching and HUB space and will be complete for the new academic year Autumn 2015.
