Four contemporary artists who graduated from Sheffield Hallam University this year are being given a helping hand in getting their careers off the ground, thanks to a studio bursary scheme.
Fine art graduates Laura Twigg, Kristian Barnes, Ashley Holmes and Mark Riddington were awarded free studio space at the nationally-recognised S1 Artspace, through the S1 Studio Bursary programme. They will benefit from six months of subsidised professional studio space, mentoring from practicing artists and the opportunity to show off their work at an exhibition.
Senior lecturer in fine art at the University, Mark Purcell, said: “The support offered by this scheme has been incredibly important in developing the careers of many young artists. It is also helping to keep talented young artists in the city, and give them somewhere to grow, and to exhibit professionally.
