Bribery Act update

Do you or members of your team work in an area of bribery risk?

This could be in the University Executive Group or Faculty Senior Management/Executive Groups, Finance staff, DID staff, some IS&T staff, Admissions staff, Business Development staff, Faculty International teams, Overseas Offices staff, Research Centre staff, or some Professional Services roles, or anyone giving or receiving gifts or hospitality.

Have you or your team been trained on how to identify bribery, how to deal with being offered bribes or being asked to give a bribe in the UK or overseas?

Don’t forget any new staff who have joined the University in the last few months, have they received the training they need and completed the online module at: http://www.doingbusinesswithoutbribery.com and attended a training session with the Legal Services Officer?  If not, please send the names and job titles of staff needing training to r.hancock@shu.ac.uk

Do you know where to find advice and information on issues relating to bribery and corruption?

The University has a page of information and links to useful documents on the Secretariat intranet at: https://staff.shu.ac.uk/university_secretariat/BriberyAct2010.asp This includes a link to the Anti-Bribery Policy: https://staff.shu.ac.uk/university_secretariat/antibriberypolicy.asp

If you have any other queries, please contact Rosie Hancock, Legal Services Officer, Governance and Planning Services, SRD on r.hancock@shu.ac.uk, ext.3854.
