Did you know that the University has a Fire Safety Manual?
The purpose of the Manual is to outline all the formal arrangements for the management of fire safety at the University. It is intended to be used to communicate these arrangements to students, staff and other stakeholders. The manual has three sections:
Section One – Fire Safety Policy
This section includes the fire safety policy statement, details how fire safety activities are organised within the university and the generic responsibilities of staff and students.
Section Two – Fire Precautions and Procedures
This section is the main one that all members of staff need to be aware of. It includes general fire precautions and fire action procedures. It also includes evacuation of persons with individual needs, prohibited items and practices and the use of fire extinguishers. Fire marshal duties are also included.
Section Three – Key Management Arrangements
This section includes activities such as carrying out fire risk assessments and investigation of fire-related incidents.
