The University returns annual data to HESA (the Higher Education Statistics Agency). This return is high profile and can influence funding and the University’s place in league tables.
To ensure that the information about you is as complete and accurate as possible, please check and update as necessary.
This should take you no longer than a couple of minutes.
An electronic survey form has been produced, which is pre-populated with your existing HESA information.
Teaching Qualifications and HESA Return
Last year a new field was introduced to the HESA Return, Teaching Qualifications, and at the time this allowed completion of only one field. In recognition of the range of teaching qualifications held by academic staff, amendments have been made to the return and this year you will be able to enter up to 6 teaching qualifications. Please ensure you select all your relevant teaching qualifications, from the Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (often referred to as the “new staff course” and known as the PGCert in Academic Practice in other institutions) to those recognised and accredited by Professional Bodies such as NMC and SEDA, along with Teacher Education qualifications in both compulsory and post compulsory education. Many members of staff also hold Fellowship of the HEA and should enter their highest level of HEA recognition.
An accurate return on teaching qualifications is essential, as there is greater scrutiny and use of this information within the public domain.
