There’s always room for improvement, and like any good conference we’re aiming to iron out some of the wrinkles from last year to ensure #SocMedHE16 is even better: this year the venue is our brand new Charles Street building with well thought out learning spaces – a ‘Turn & Learn’ lecture theatre & flexible informal spaces on every floor; delegates won’t have to hike ten floors to get to the session rooms, and the programme is slimmer with no more than 5 concurrent strands rather than the challenging 8 of 2015. That aside, we were over the moon to get a fair bit of unsolicited feedback straight after – this is just a selection:

“I have been to many academic conferences, UK and abroad – you are the first where I felt that it appropriate to share personal thanks. Thank you – really, don’t be surprised, it was great. There was from the outset a definite vibe – the pre dinner was convivial, everyone friendly and the whole event seems to have attracted a diverse group all wanting to share.”
Andrew Smith The Open University
“the conference was excellent, there are very few I go to where I feel spoilt for choice and this was definitely one of them. Hopefully the response was good enough for you to be making this an annual event.” Dr. Mark Childs Senior Lecturer (TEL), OCSLD, Oxford Brookes University
“I hope that you have had a chance to recover from organizing the conference and are enjoying the holidays. I want to thank you again for providing an opportunity for Joyce, Heidi and I to share our work at the conference. We all thought it was a great event. ”
Joe Ippolito, Senior Project Director, Social Technology Enabled Professional (STEP) USA
“Just wanted to thank you. Everything was great. Met so many interesting people, and hear many interesting social media discussions.” Babak Esmaeli Edinburgh University
