Workshop on Robotics for Healthy Living and Active Ageing @ IEEE ROMAN 2019

Workshop on INTERNET OF INTELLIGENT ROBOTIC THINGS FOR HEALTHY LIVING AND ACTIVE AGEING: WHERE WE ARE AND FUTURE TRENDS @ The 28th IEEE International Conference on Robot & Human Interactive Communication
14 Oct, 2019
Le Meridien, Windsor Place, New Delhi, India

It was a great half day workshop at IEEE ROMAN 2019. I should thank my co-organisers – Dr. Laura Fiorini, Dr. Filippo Cavallo (SSSA), Prof. Yasuo Okabe (Osaka), Prof. Alberto Nunzio Borgese (Milan), the invited speakers Dr Silvia Rossi (Naples) and Prof. Jorge Dias, (Khalifa), and all the other participants for the many interesting presentations and discussions.

The Proceedings Book can be downloaded by clicking on this link.

I had also the opportunity to present and discuss with the audience the results of the CATHI project:

The workshop is linked to a Special Issue in MDPI robotics, which is open to submission also for other authors: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/robotics/special_issues/biorobot

CATHI presented at HRI 2019

HRI 2019 is the 14th annual conference for basic and applied human-robot interaction research.

The HRI conference is a highly selective annual international conference that aims to showcase the very best interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research in human-robot interaction with roots in and broad participation from communities that include but not limited to robotics, human-computer interaction, human factors, artificial intelligence, engineering, and social and behavioral sciences.

CATHI has received the IBM SUR Award!

CATHI has won the international Shared University Research Award by IBM Corporation (PI Alessandro Di Nuovo – IBM responsible John McNamara).

The award included a cash donation of $40,000 to Sheffield Hallam University and free access to IBM Watson and staff training.

About the program

The IBM Shared University Research (SUR) Awards is a world wide monetary, cloud and equipment award program to promote research and innovation in strategic areas of mutual interest and to build skills in ‘New Collar’ jobs. Nominations for these awards must be initiated by someone within IBM.

The SUR Awards program strives to connect the research and researchers at universities with personnel in IBM: in organizations such as IBM Research, IBM Life Sciences, IBM Global Services and our development and product labs. This program is not aimed at supporting a single individual or research project. Rather, the intent is to support and have an impact in an area of significant interest to the university and IBM.

The SUR Awards program is designed to:

  • Promote collaborative research projects that bring value to IBM, the technology community, and our world.
  • Increase access to IBM technologies for research and in curriculum.
  • Provide opportunities within IBM for undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. students.
