Digital Technology Services is rolling out 166 new Multi-Function Devices (MFDs) across campus. These new printers are the same in look and functionality as the old ones but offer faster printing, more reliability and will provide cost savings for the University. Replacements are happening with minimum interruption (downtime is being kept to between 15 minutes and an hour) and DTS will thoroughly check and test each new printer before they ask the supplier to collect the old ones. This batch of MFDs will be in place between now and the end of July and local contacts are being advised of the date each printer will be changed about two weeks beforehand. During the short time while each printer is being installed, staff and students are, as always, able to use the ‘Follow-me’ service to collect their printing from an alternative nearby printer.
This upgrade is part of our ongoing programme to maintain a modern, sustainable and efficient fleet of printers for the University.
If you have any questions about the roll out of MFDs, please contact the IT Service Desk on x3333.
