IT security (also known as cyber security) is the protection of information systems from theft or damage to hardware, software, the information on the systems and from disruption or misdirection of the services they provide. It includes controlling physical access to the hardware and protecting against harm that may come from unauthorised access due to malpractice by operators, whether intentional or accidental.
In accordance with the Staff Responsibility for Information Security policy, all users have a responsibility to report incidents or suspected incidents involving IT security breaches, such as malware infections, spam emails etc.
