Howard Whiteley joined the University on 11 May as the new Chief Information Officer in IS&T. Howard joins us from the University of Manchester where, for the last 18 months, he has been leading the transformation of the IT Services function.  Prior to this, Howard led a major initiative at the University of Leeds to deliver one of the largest change programmes in the sector,  supporting a transformation of the student journey.

He has worked across a number of sectors including financial services, retail and manufacturing (starting his career as a Chartered Engineer with BP) and has led programmes of change up to £820m in value.

Howard is passionate about delivering business benefits through the appropriate application of digital technologies and is looking forward to working with colleagues across the University to drive us forward in the use of information technologies.

Howard will be reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor. To ensure a smooth transition,  Leon Etherington will continue as Interim Director of IS&T until the end of May.
