Two graduates from our BA Social Work course have been recognised for their achievements at the South Yorkshire Teaching Partnership Awards Ceremony, which took place in September. The South Yorkshire Teaching Partnership consists of Sheffield universities, all local authorities in South Yorkshire, and Lincolnshire County Council Children’s Service.
Helen Price was awarded Student of the Year in recognition of her achievements on the course. Since graduating, Helen has begun her career as a social worker.
Samuel Parsons’s work on the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme was recognised with the ASYE Worker of the Year award. Samuel graduated from the social work course in August 2017 and is now employed as a social worker. The ASYE is a qualification that newly qualified social workers are required to complete.
Brendan Wood (senior lecturer) said: “This is great news for our social work course and shows its relevance to practice and our social work profession. The awards are hotly contested – there is strong competition from both the University of Sheffield and social work staff from across the teaching partnership, so Helen and Samuel can be immensely proud of their respective achievements.”
Our congratulations to both Helen and Samuel.
