This summer, we have been undertaking major plantroom refurbishments to the following buildings:
- Arundel Gate Court
- Stoddart
- Harmer
- Eric Mensforth
- Sheaf
- Collegiate Hall
- Pearson
These works have been undertaken to provide a more efficient heating system within these buildings. Through undertaking these works, we will be able to:
- address long-term maintenance issues ensuring the heating system is fully functional when required
- modernise the heating system to reduce life cycle costs
- provide increased efficiency which will have a positive effect on our goals towards a sustainable University
We are nearing the completion of the works across all buildings, with works due to complete in the month of September. This means the heating will be available in line with seasonal demand.
Speaking about the planned works on Collegiate Campus, Nathan Bakewell (estates project manager) said:
“The refurbishment works at Collegiate Hall this summer have been complex and technical. This has led the programme to return heating to this building being slightly longer than expected. As such, Estates are putting in a contingency measure to supply Collegiate Hall with temporary heating. The temporary boiler is of an industrial scale and will be in place in the next week until the expected completion of the system at the beginning of October. As you have no doubt felt, the winds are changing and there is a chill in the air, therefore rest assured, when required, heating will be provided to the building.”
We would like to thank all staff for their co-operation and patience during this period of works. You can find out more about the work being done across our estate, and also subscribe to live notifications, by visiting our Future Spaces blog.
