The International Sports Technology Association has appointed Dr Marcus Dunn, research fellow in the Centre for Sports Engineering Research, to its executive advisory board.
Speaking about his appointment, Marcus said, “I’m excited to be appointed to the ISTA executive advisory board. The ISTA aims to position itself as a world leading organisation for sports technologists; this appointment recognises my dedication to teaching and collaboration. As a board member, I will help to inform the ISTA’s educational strategy in the world of sports technology.
“The appointment reflects my recent election as a Director of the International Sports Engineering Association (ISEA). The ISEA is an established and international organisation, with official outputs such as the Sports Engineering journal and biannual conference, The Engineering of Sport. Both Prof David James (now a visiting Professor at SHU) and I were elected as Directors (President and Treasurer, respectively) in November 2018. As an ISTA executive advisory board member, I will also help to provide perspective and collaboration on behalf of the ISEA.
“My involvement in both of these organisations will help to inform my teaching at SHU on global perspectives in the rapidly growing sectors of sports technology and engineering. These industry links directly align to our PhD students, our internationally renowned MSc Sports Engineering students and our recently developed BSc Sport and Exercise Technology students (first year of recruitment).”
Our congratulations to Marcus on his appointment.
