The Sheffield Hallam Prevent Course has been developed to provide an overview for staff on the Prevent duty and focuses on raising general awareness of Prevent amongst all staff.
The course content covers:
• A definition of what Prevent is.
•The Prevent duty in Higher Education – what must be done.
•Definitions of terrorism, extremism and radicalisation
•Specific Sheffield Hallam information – policies, procedures and staff responsibility
The course is for all staff and is delivered in two ways – via an e-learning module and via a workshop. The material in the e-learning module and the workshop is the same, so staff won’t need to complete both.
The workshop is an hour-long interactive session and provides the opportunity for staff to discuss the key issues in the Prevent duty. Places can be booked via CORE Portal. Sessions are currently scheduled for:
• Wednesday 24 May 2pm-3pm
• June 2017: Monday 5 June 2pm-3pm
• Thursday 22 June 10am-11am
The E-Learning module takes 30 minutes to complete. If you would like access to this module, please contact Richard Hughes in the People Development team who will arrange this for you.
If you have any queries on Prevent training, please contact Richard Hughes, People Development Services Manager. Prevent training can also be delivered on a bespoke basis within your team/department, so please contact Richard if you would like to discuss this further.
